LCB : Lounge Chair Bamboo OFS & Metropolis Furniture Design Competition 2005

Entry for The Hotseat Design Competition

LCB is built using a single laminated bamboo plywood seat and 2-piece aluminium base. Both materials were chosen for their excellent sustainability and aesthetics. Bamboo can be sustainably harvested and replenished with virtually no negative environmental impact, and aluminum is among the easiest metals to recycle, losing almost no chemical value in the recycling process.

In addition to material, it is also equally important to consider the design itself as an important factor in sustainability. LCB addresses this by using readily available materials that do not require a great deal of machining. This provides for greater ease later if LCB needs refurbishment on its quest for timelessness.

Beck's Bar Beck's Architecture Competition 2004

Entry for Beck's Prize II via Designboom; Exhibited at Milan Design Week 2005

Collaboration with Dan Fields

International modular everywhere (IME) is designed as a modular solution to socialization needs. The concept was to define a space that would serve almost all purposes; film viewing, music performance, art openings, and just a night on the town. To this effect, the floor plan was designed primarily open with limited fixed furnishings to allow great flexibility in space.

The construction technique employed is off-site modular pre-fabrication. The space consists of 5 modules which can be arranged in a variety of ways for unique experiences. Each module conforms to standards for shipping via flat bed trailer throughout the EU. The modules are also designed to be self contained, housing integrated plumbing, lighting, and HVAC as required. This allows IME to be positioned in an existing location or to exist freestanding.

IME = Maximum Flexibility + Maximum Fun

Stereohype Buttons Stereohype Competition 2004

Entry for Stereohype one inch button contest

These buttons derive their aesthetic from research into 1D design. Each image is taken as a one pixel section through an image, and extruded into infinity about one axis. This approxiamates the reality of an object existing in only one dimension.
